"We'll admit it, we're not the smoothest salespeople. We spend our days on roofs and in switchboards, not in sales training. So instead of a pitch, here is what we actually do when we turn up at your place." Ash, Director

What we do on every job

Finished panels on a tile roof, a Green Coast job
STEP 1

Your roof and tiles

Before any work starts we check the condition of your roof, because some tiles are more fragile than others. We make sure spare tiles are on site before we lift the first one. Tiles are removed by hand with hand tools, and each one is carefully ground so it sits flat again once the mounting bracket is in.

STEP 2

Keeping the water out

Every cable entry through your roof is sealed with a purpose-made roof flashing and a weatherproof sealant approved by the manufacturer. Wherever we can, the entry point sits under a panel, out of the sun and the weather. We photograph each one before we leave.

STEP 3

Where the battery goes

Every battery we install follows the Australian battery standard, AS/NZS 5139. It does not go in a bedroom or living area, and it is kept clear of windows, doors and exits. It goes out of direct sun and weather, usually the garage or a sheltered outside wall. If that wall backs onto a room of the house, we fit a fire-resistant backing behind it.

STEP 4

Your switchboard and safety switches

Older switchboards often need upgrading before a battery can go in, and we tell you before we quote, not on install day. Every circuit that will run on battery backup gets its own modern safety switch, and any old fuses are replaced with circuit breakers.

STEP 5

The wiring, in one breath

Your panels and battery produce DC power. Your home and the grid run on AC. The inverter manages the two. DC cable is run inside heavy-duty conduit so it cannot be knocked or damaged, and every AC cable is protected by a breaker matched to its size.

STEP 6

Labels and shutting it down

We fit the green ES sign and all the other required stickers on your switchboard and meter box, which tell firefighters and any future electrician there is a battery here, and a shutdown label at the battery. Before we leave we show you how to shut the system down yourself.

STEP 7

Testing and handover

We do not leave until the system is fully commissioned and working. It is tested end to end, including a test of the backup with the grid switched off. Then you get a full run-through. The photos and paperwork needed for your rebate are lodged with the Clean Energy Regulator by us.

After we leave

You can call us for support any time after your install. Our 10-year workmanship warranty, in writing, covers everything about how the system was installed. The panels, inverter and battery are covered by their own manufacturer warranties, and we will tell you which is which.

Installer versus salesperson

Many companies are very good at selling. The person you talk to may know little about how the system is installed, and often does not know who will do the job.

Five questions to ask before anyone installs a battery on your home

  1. Is the installer accredited for batteries, and do you know their name? Our installers are accredited for battery work, and you will know who is coming before install day.
  2. How long have they been around, and will they be here for the warranty?Since 2009, from the same Gold Coast base. More than 500 batteries and 6,000 systems installed.
  3. Own team or subcontractors? Our own staff install every job.
  4. A brand they install every week, or whatever is cheapest this month? We quote the equipment we install regularly and know how to service.
  5. Sized for your home, or for the biggest rebate? We size from how your home uses power. If a smaller battery, or no battery yet, is the right answer, that is what we will tell you.

The rebate, briefly

The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027, and it is set by the install date, not the date you sign. We will show you exactly what applies to your home. Consultations booked by Saturday 28 November can still be installed this year.
